Inspired by last night’s foraging for dandelion greens, this morning I took a few minutes to enjoy the cool morning sun and clip a few young blackberry leaves.
These leaves dehydrate beautifully and make an excellent tea either alone or combined with other flavors. You can even add a teaspoon to your favorite black tea. Once clipped, the leaves were dehydrated for a few hours until completely dry and packed in a jar for storage.
With the chaos of the past few weeks and the potential that John may be admitted to the hospital in the next day or so, we took a long drive this afternoon to Cheaha State Park just a few hours away. We packed a picnic style lunch, grabbed our cameras and hit the road. This cotton field was so beautiful along the way that we couldn’t help but to stop and snap a few photos.
The day was beautiful, the leaves and scenery were breathtaking and it was the perfect afternoon to decompress and spend some quiet time together, away from everything and everyone.
The item below is currently on sale at Walgreens and a manufacturer’s coupon is available. The sale is for the exact item that we had on hand. We did not purchase it from the store because at this point in the challenge we do not want to accumulate more items that will create additional overage at the end of the month, so it makes sense to buy it from our existing pantry. The amount has been deducted from our total as though it was purchased at the store.
