The Super Secret Recycling Project

Why would anyone take a perfectly good shirt and reduce it to a pile of scraps?  Take a look at these photos and see if you can figure out what I am up to.

For starters let me say that the shirt is part of an outdated uniform and carried a retailer’s logo. For that reason it could not be donated to a charitable organization.

I removed the buttons, collar, back panel, front pocket and cuffs.

I then cut the entire shirt into a continuous strip of fabric that is approximately 3/4” to 1” wide.  As you can see I made no effort to be neat and exact with my cuts.

The overall goal of this Super Secret Recycling Project is to reuse every part of the original shirt and keep it out of the landfill.  Even more than that though, because of my desire to live more simply I want to create something that is unique, beautiful and useful.

What is your best guess as to what I’m working on?  Do you have any ideas for the remnants (collar, cuffs, back panel)?

Stay tuned as the Super Secret Recycling Project is revealed…
