I wish I’d taken this advice two years ago, my first crack at growing my own food. I wish I could say I’ve learned my lesson about starting small, but once again this year, I will give in to unrealistic expectations. You should see all my seeds! I WILL do a journal this year and keep up with it, however. That’s one mistake I regret because now I’m almost starting to learn all over again.

Great advice for newbies … actually great advice for all of us! I have to confess that much of my garden space for veggies is being consumed by roses, but Mr. G has his raised bed and they are sporting a sign that says NO ROSES! Men! :) But, I will ALWAYS make room for tomatoes!

Great article! I especially agree wth #2. I much prefer to pour my energy into edibles that are pricier at the grocery store. Otherwise a growing failure will just lead me to buy it cheap. LOL
And keeping a journal Yes! I just started sharing my great-grandfather’s journal from the 1970′s.
