Michael Nolan and Joe Lamp'l Michael and Joe at a community garden build in Atlanta, Georgia in 2009. They both look even younger now. Seriously.

I first met Joe Lamp’l in person back in 2009. He was in Atlanta working on a Project Orange Thumb community garden build with Fiskars and I dropped in to say hello. By that time we had known each other through social media for a few years.

You may know him from the DIY Network or from PBS, but chances are that if you have had any interest in gardening in the past decade, you have seen some of Joe’s work on television. You may have even read one of his books, Over the Fence with joe gardener®, and The Green Gardener’s Guide; simple, significant actions to protect and preserve the planet.

Joe’s reputation in the gardening world is stellar, and with good reason. He is one of the most hard working men I have ever known, but his true gift is in making every person he meets feel as though they have his full and undivided attention. He is as engaged as he is engaging, and there is no one more genuine.

Joe Lamp’l and his amazing team of cohorts bring the award-winning series Growing a Greener World to us. The show launches its 4th season this July. If you haven’t yet seen it, prepare to be amazed; there is no gardening show like it!

Check out a sneak peek here:

p.s.: Joe, you’ve owed me a beer for five years! We live in the same metro area now, so let’s make it happen in 2014.
